Many Facebook and Instagram users have complained about an outage.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, experienced widespread technical problems on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Many of the users of Facebook encountered difficulties in logging into the platform after they were automatically logged out. The problem lasted for more than two hours.
According to Downdetector, error reports went up at about 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, March 5. As of around 11 a.m., the monitoring service had received more than 500,000 error reports.
Instagram users on the other hand reported that their feed was not refreshing and they were unable to post anything to the platform.
Later, it came to light that Meta’s Messaging platform and Threads, the company’s Twitter-like app launched last year were not spared by the outage.
After the error was fixed, Facebook announced and apologized.
The official Facebook page posted: “And we’re back 💙 So sorry for those who were unable to access Facebook earlier today.”
