Bayer 04 Leverkusen are champions of the 2023/24 season of the German Bundesliga.
They won the Bundesliga with five games to spare after defeating Werder Bremen 5-0 on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
This was after they had finished runners-up five times in the German Bundesliga.
Leverkusen historically won its first Bundesliga title after Xabi Alonso became the manager of the team in 18 months.
They had a remarkable unbeaten run. The team is yet to lose a league game this season, they have secured 25 wins and 4 draws in 29 matches.
Leverkusen has accumulated 79 points after 29 matches out of 34. Despite winning the league, they appear relentless.
Following their victory, Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso stated: “This is a great moment with a top team and a great club. When you win the championship, that’s something special. The team has won it for the first time in Leverkusen’s history: you have to enjoy that. You have to celebrate with the fans, the families. It’s an honour to work for this club.”
Xabi Alonso joined the team in October 2022 by succeeding Gerardo Seoane.
While celebrating their big win, the joyous players of Bayer Leverkusen poured beer on Alonso.
Alonso has been hailed by a lot of football fans and pundits for the feat attained.
