The death of Nollywood actor, Pope Obumneme Odonwodo, also Junior Pope, has shocked a lot of people.
According to multiple reports, Pope passed on following a boat accident when he was returning from a movie set.
The actor and others drowned after the boat capsized.
Sadly, he couldn’t survive after he was rushed to the hospital.
There have been a lot of twists about his death. After reports about Pope’s death went viral, another report surfaced that he was alive.
However, he was confirmed dead later.
Many people have paid tribute to Junior Pope after his sad demise.
In a social media post, Nigerian actress, Ini Edo wrote: “Jnr Pope did not have to sacrifice his life for nollywood to realize the need for a long and much needed regulatory structure that would safeguard an entire production . Yes .. every one is a producer now and all are guilty of negligence of some sort.. and this has to stop. This is one sacrifice too many and must count for something … The system has to undergo a total overhaul with practical rules and regulations that caters to everyone in cases of emergencies…. I will never understand why the good ones go so soon Rest on brother … This one cuts really deep .”
Ghanaian actress, Jackie Appiah also wrote: “RIP @jnrpope and to the crew members. This is really sad. May we not die in pursuit of our daily bread.”
Many others have paid tribute to the deceased actor in social media posts.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Awele and their three children. Junior Pope passed on at the age of 39.
