Starlink Satellite Broadband will offer services in Ghana soon following the approval of its application by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
The NCA announced the approval of Starlink GH LTD, operators of Starlink Satellite Broadband application in a statement issued on April 25, 2024.
According to them, the administrative processes towards the issuance of the licence will be completed shortly.
“The National Communications Authority (NCA) has approved the application of Space X Starlink GH LTD, operators of Starlink Satellite Broadband, to offer Satellite Broadband Services in Ghana.
The approval of the application follows the policy approval of the Satellite Licensing Framework in Ghana by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation.
The administrative processes towards the issuance of the licence is ongoing and will be completed shortly,” the statement read.
SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, began launching Starlink satellites in 2019. As of early March 2024, it consists of over 6,000 mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO)[5] that communicate with designated ground transceivers.
