Organizers of Reunion Rave Artiste Night explain why the performance of Shatta Wale at UG was cancelled

The cancellation of Shatta Wale’s performance at the Jean Topp Nelson Yankah Hall at the University of Ghana has got people talking.

He was to perform at the Reunion Rave Artiste Night on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Unfortunately, his performance was cancelled—and that sparked social media outrage—with allegations flying all over.

Naysers made various speculations about the fact that Stonebwoy’s event at the Liman Hall in the same university was not cancelled.

But in a statement, Wave Africa, the organizers of the Reunion Rave Artiste Night detailed what led to the cancellation of Shatta Wale’s performance.

After being engaged by the executives of Jean Topp Nelson Yankah Hall two months ago to organize the event, Wave Africa they signed a contract on June 5, 2024.

After signing the contract, they went ahead to seal a deal with Shatta Wale and distributed promotional materials for the event.

Interestingly, Wave Africa revealed they saw an online communique from the Dean of Students’ office announcing the cancellation of the event on Friday, June 7. However, the hall executives who secured the venue assured them that the issues with the Dean of Students office had been resolved when they contacted them.

The organizers also disclosed that the Legon campus security interrupted during their set up and sound check on Saturday, June 8, 2024, stating that it was an order from above.

Wave of Africa expressed disappointment in the turn out of events.

They apologized to fans over the incident.
