Popular Ghanaian Gospel musician, Great Ampong, has refuted claims of being paid to compose a campaign song for a political party.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Yaw Gyebi on Connect 97.1 FM’s “Edwumapa mbr3”, the ‘Yehowa Kae Me’ singer denied the rumours.
He stated that no political party in Ghana had paid him to record a campaign song for them.
However, Ampong confirmed that he is a supporter of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The famous Ghanaian Gospel musician that his support for NPP won’t affect his beliefs and work ethic.
“Whoever said I have received money for a campaign song is dreaming, I haven’t been contacted or received any money to record a campaign song. Whether I choose to release a political song this year or not, my allegiance to the NPP remains steadfast,” said Great Ampong.
As the 2024 elections in Ghana draw nearer, it is expected that musicians in the country will compose campaign songs for political parties. Some of these musicians are paid while others do it because of their love for a certain political party.
