Leverkusen and Atalanta will be battling for the Europa League 2024 title.
On Thursday, May 9, 2024, Leverkusen drew 2-2 with Roma to secure a spot in the final of the Europa League. This was after they defeated Roma 0-2 in the first leg of their semi-final match in Italy.
Roma took the lead through Leandro Parades in the 43rd minute when they were awarded a penalty.
Parades successfully converted another penalty in the 66th minute to make it 0-2 for the visitors.
Leverkusen’s consolation goal was gotten courtesy of Gianluca Mancini’s own goal after 82 minutes of play.
Finally, Josip Stanišić scored within 90+7 minutes to secure a vital equalizer for Leverkusen.
The 2-2 draw preserved Leverkusen’s unbeaten run. Currently, the Germany-based football club remain unbeaten in all competitions in 2023/24. They have played 49 matches without loss.
Atalanta, on the other hand, beat Marseille 3-0 (4-1) on aggregate to reach the final.
Atalanta and Leverkusen will battle in the final of the Europa League 2024 on May 22, 2024, at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
