Cote d’Ivoire has been crowned champions of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023).
They achieved this feat after coming from behind to defeat Nigeria 1-2.
The dead lock of the game was broken in the 38th minute after William Troost-Ekong scored to put Nigeria ahead.
Nigeria held to their 1-0 lead until the first half even though the host nation put pressure on them.
Ivory Coast got the equalizer in the 62nd minute through a header by Franck Kessié.
They went ahead to possess the ball more before they got another goal.
In the 81st minute, Sébastien Haller scored the winning goal for Cote D’Ivoire.
